Enjoy the Beach

The beautiful sandy beach of Stalis is only a short walk from the apartment.

Spend the day swimming in the crystal-clear waters, relaxing under a sun umbrella or enjoying a drink at one of the many beach bars along the coast.

The beach of Stalis offers many water sports activities including:

Walk Along the Promenade

One of the simplest and most enjoyable activities in Stalis is an evening walk along the beachfront promenade.

You will find shops, cafés, bars, restaurants, street performers and beautiful sea views all the way from Stalis to Malia.

Stalis Tourist Train

One of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to explore the area is by taking the local tourist train.

The train has several stops along the Stalis beachfront road and offers a relaxing way to discover Stalis, Malia and the surrounding areas.

Traditional Cretan Night in Mochos

Every Wednesday evening, the village square of Mochos hosts a traditional Cretan night with live Cretan music, local food, dancing and a wonderful atmosphere.

It is one of the best opportunities to experience authentic Cretan culture during your stay.

Hiking to Mochos Village

If you enjoy walking, there is a beautiful hiking route connecting Malia, Mochos and Stalis.

For a shorter walk, I recommend the Stalis–Mochos–Stalis route, which offers beautiful countryside views and a chance to experience one of Crete's most charming traditional villages.

If you rent a car, don't miss the traditional villages of Mochos, Krasi, Koutouloufari, Piskopiano and Old Hersonissos.

Lychnostatis Open Air Museum

Located between Stalis and Hersonissos, the Lychnostatis Museum offers visitors the opportunity to discover traditional Cretan life, local customs, agriculture, architecture and folklore.

A wonderful choice for anyone interested in the culture and history of Crete.

Malia Archaeological Site

Just outside Malia, you can visit the Archaeological Site of Malia, one of the most important Minoan palaces in Crete.

The site dates back thousands of years and offers a fascinating insight into the ancient Minoan civilisation.

It is generally less crowded than Knossos and can be explored at a more relaxed pace.

My Personal Recommendation

If you have enough time, try to combine the beach with at least one authentic local experience.

The memories that visitors usually cherish most are not only the beautiful beaches, but also the traditional villages, local celebrations, Cretan music, mountain landscapes, archaeological sites and the warm hospitality of the people of Crete.
